WHAT IS STRUCTURAL POLYMER?

It's a process that injects hi-impact polystyrene resin into a huge press. The injected material expands under pressure to form what is commonly referred to as structural foam. This revolutionary process has been researched by such companies as Union Carbide and Dow Chemical for over two decades and is currently used by such companies as GM and AMF. It is a material which has replaced many raw materials used in the production of automobile parts, computer housing, underground conduits, water pump housing, space capsule parts, furniture and much more.

Structural foam is a relatively new concept which has growing interest in the material market place. Structural foam is not to be confused with styro-foam or other foams of a soft flexible nature. In simple terms, it is a very hard, solid core material, and as with all structural foam types, flexural strength and tensile strength are dependent upon the specific requirements of the product desired.
